Hello Thierry,
Thanks for this call for help on the LiLux list.
I'd like to add some more information about the event:
The APE Contern is the asbl grouping the parents of the "Ecole
fondamentale" of Contern. Possibly, we'll invite people from surrounding
municipalities to increase the audience.
The intended audience is the "standard" Internet user, with hardly any
knowledge about internet or computer security. These people are
additionally confronted to the potential risks generated by the
behaviour of their kids surfing the internet, those even less aware of
the risks.
Our initial idea was to take "clean" computers, to make people surf the
web and then show them the traces left on the computer . As the event
will take place in a location with free WiFi, an additional idea was to
show how easy it is to catch data on a public WiFi.
While discussinng with Thierry, he suggested that developing simple
demos of Phishing of other attacks could probably be developed, which is
of course a great idea.
I'd be interested personally to be involved in the planning of the
event, and contribute my two cents to make this event a success. One
other member if our club is also interested in preparing the event,
however he is not computer expert, but more part of the intended audience.
APE Contern will take care of locations, invites, etc. but has no
experts for the IT part of the event. We hope that some people will join
to the experience. I think that all the stuff (demos of attacks etc.)
developed for this event should be "recycled" for later use by other
interested people or organizations.
Best regards,
Jean-Jacques Mouris
Vice-Chairman APE Contern

Hello,
With the APE Contern we would like to organize a security event in the
spring 2012
The idea is to actually show security treats encountered every day and
not only have a presenter talk about security.
We could demonstrate phishing, WiFi spying on public places....
This is not a Linux presentation and most of the people coming will be
Windows user.
The advantage of having LiLux co-organize the event is that we can
promote free software only by our presence and maybe by distributing
some flyers.
Who could help with ideas, and presence on the event?
Our next meeting is scheduled for the 24th of November. More details
will come later.
Best regards.
