For those people considering an broadband Internet access and wondering
which one to choose, I have to add the following:
VO offers a full DSL flatrate (256 Kbit down / 128 Kbit up) for 47 Euro
/ month, only a single Euro more expensive than Alternet (46 Euro).
The original post is misleading: The Alternet 33 Euro offer is a time
limited promotional offer. This is unmentioned by Brent's original post.
Every provider makes promotional offers at the moment (Coditel offers
the 1024Kbit access for 24.90 instead of 45 Euro at the moment).
Also consider that there are additional costs unmentioned: 139 Euro for
the installation and 159 for the modem/router. Some providers offer you
a free installation at the moment.
So a good advice for everybody: Compare the costs. Many ISPs say that
they can confirm that they are the cheapest because they make offers
which aren't 100% comparable to the competitors. Take care of the hidden
costs. Check everything yourself.
VO is not comparable to the EPT even if Brent mentioned the two in the
same sentence. I know 2 people who work there and they are open minded
and OSS aware (even if they use M$ software internally). They even have
a link for Mozilla Thinderbird on their *main page*.
