Ok, guys, go for VO or EPT... They clearly
don't allow use of any OS
Again, EPT is *not* the reference. Their FAQ says that I need a
Pentium to use their DSL. My SparcStation has a microSparc! I can not
believe that you want to impress me be comparing Alternet to the worst
ISPs on this issue. Compare Alternet to the best one, then I may be
impressed.
I don't want to impress anybody. I just say this is the best flat rate
DSL ISP in Lux so far.
Coditel officially supports *any* OS, including
UNIX/Linux and the Mac:
http://www.coditel.lu/english/isp/ispfaq.htm#Q14
Very well. Coditel is not a DSL ISP and is not offering flat rates. And
I'm not in their coverage neither.
If you would have read the past posts you would see
how the Deutsche
Telekom operates on this issue. Everything already has been discussed.
Please read the beginning of thread.
Excuse me ? I initiated this thread !
I have asked you a precise question, you seem not want
to answer me:
<question>
Do they believe you that you are clued and that you have configured
everything correctly? Do they immediatley start to investigate on
their side?
</question>
With me yes, but they appeared to know me by reputation before we
actually met... I think this kind of beheavior can also apply to some
other known member of Lilux...
If you really want to wet my appetite for a new
provider, why do you
not answer the questions that matter to me? What they use, what car
they drive, what they eat is pretty irrelevant to me.
I'm not interested in wet your appetite. Just go to whatever ISP you
want. I just gave an accurate information -as far as I know- which is
this ISP is the lowest rate for 256 Kb/s flat rate DSL service in
Luxembourg at the moment and has nothing against customers using Linux.
They even give you advices related to that OS, so they are aware of it
and even have experience with it. Full stop.
They
don't support any OS.
Good. Now a real answer at least. All FreeBSD users, Debian users and
so on should forget this ISP. They only support Windows, SuSE and
RedHat I suppose.
Suppose what you want. They provide Internet service whatever OS you use
and give adequate advice to users that claims using Linux. They don't
support the OS: they support the ISP service. But they have experience
with Linux and welcome Linux-based users instead of shooting at them
like other ISPs I know about.
They provide
IP service on ADSL, not a help-desk about all
computer-related problem
Read the thread you missed. This already has been discussed. Again the
question:
Read this thread. I initiated it. You probably crossed information
between threads, which explains our misunderstanding. I just wrote an
e-mail giving an accurate information:
This offer is the lowest rate I know in Lux for 256 Kb/s DSL service
with flat rate.
I've been imediately attacked with a comparaison with Coditel, which is
not a DSL provider, has no flat rate offer and is not full Internet
access provider.
I am beginning to get confused. Now they support any
OS with a TCP/IP
stack as Coditel does ?
You indeed are confused. They offer standard IPv4 services on DSL
technology at the best flat rate I know in Luxembourg for a 256 Kb/s
access rate. They don't have any restriction on the device you are
planned to connect to the DSL router but they know about Linux and give
adequate advices if you say your are Linux-based customer. That's all.
I visted their side. There is no information about OS
support. No FAQ,
nothing. I even read their PDF. I hoped you had better information,
but communcation over E-Mail can be time-consuming before relevant
questions finally get answered.
Especially when you don't seem to read what I write. If you read again
the FIRST e-mail of this thread, which is MINE by the way, you will see
that I sent information that is NOT on their web site, because it comes
from the special relation I have with them and from the experience I
have with their service being their customer and technical help-desk of
several other customers that I sent to them.
