If you wish a quick practical explanation about
what is behind the
GPL licence idea, please feel free to contact me.
As I am president of the LiLux (Libre Luxembourg) association, we
can't support non-free software initiatives.
If you are really ready to release it under GPL licence, a
presentation should be organised through LiLux.
Please call me for details.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply.
Obix is currently not free software as defined by 'The Free Software
Definition' on
www.fsf.org.
The reason is that Obix is currently still in an alpha state, and
not ready yet to develop real-world applications.
My intention is to release Obix in the near future under GPL3 (or a
similar 'free software' license), or under a dual license model
(GPL3 and a commercial license).
I admit that I have no experience with software licenses, and I
highly appreciate any advice or suggestion.
The current, temporary license allows people to dowload Obix free of
charge and 'play with it'.
Here is the text of the current license:
OBIX USER LICENSE version 0.7.2
This license governs the use of Obix (
www.obix.lu), and your use of
Obix
constitutes acceptance of this license.
This is a temporary license. A revised or different license may be
published
with future versions of Obix.
Obix is free of charge. However you are currently not allowed to use
it to
create software that directly or indirectly generates revenues, or
that is
used by a commercial entity. This restriction will be removed in a
future
version of Obix. You may currently contact the copyright holder of
Obix to
negotiate any usage that doesn't fulfill the above condition (e.g.
commercial
use).
You may distribute Obix free of charge, under the condition that a
verbatim
copy of this license is included.
Obix COMES "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED
OR IMPLIED,
INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF
MERCHANTABILITY AND
FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND
PERFORMANCE OF Obix IS WITH YOU. SHOULD Obix PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU
ASSUME THE
COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION. ALSO, YOU
MUST PASS
THIS DISCLAIMER ON WHENEVER YOU DISTRIBUTE Obix OR DERIVATIVE WORKS.
IN NO EVENT WILL THE AUTHOR OF Obix, OR ANY OTHER PARTY WHO MAY
MODIFY AND/OR
REDISTRIBUTE Obix AS PERMITTED ABOVE, BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR ANY DAMAGES,
INCLUDING ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL
DAMAGES
ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE Obix (INCLUDING BUT NOT
LIMITED TO
LOSS OF DATA OR DATA BEING RENDERED INACCURATE OR LOSSES SUSTAINED
BY YOU OR
THIRD PARTIES OR A FAILURE OF THE PROGRAM TO OPERATE WITH ANY OTHER
PROGRAMS),
EVEN IF THE AUTHOR OR OTHER PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE
POSSIBILITY OF SUCH
DAMAGES. ALSO, YOU MUST PASS THIS LIMITATION OF LIABILITY ON
WHENEVER YOU
DISTRIBUTE THE SOFTWARE OR DERIVATIVE WORKS.
All rights not expressly granted to you in this license are reserved.
The author and copyright holder of Obix is Christian Neumanns from
Luxembourg,
Europe.
