Hi all,
Anyone heard about this:
Meet the Communites (
http://www.mtc.lu/):
Not yet, but...
"Meet the Communities! is a series of events
aiming to better
making known in Luxembourg and in a more general way to the Benelux
countries and Europe what is the Open Source and the projects
developed under this type of licence."
Further they say:
"Who organize this event ?
if Pragma Consult was the initiator of Meet the Communities ! it is
currently enitrely supported by and independent ASBL mais but also the
Spiral NetWork and the CRP Henri Tudor innovation platform « Free and
Open Source »."
But on the partners page there is no ASBL ?
Does someone know which ASBL is behind this ?
Well, I went to the source and asked Ortwin Donak of the
CRP's FOSS platform about this.
The FOSS platform was intending to have regular events,
oriented towards businesses, with a concept of presentations
with demo and "field reports". As you may know, getting such
things organized at the CRP involves a lot of red tape, and
so they want to outsource this into a not-yet-founded asbl.
Apparently someone jumped the gun here, and so this website
exists with suboptimal information (obviously some badly
translated blabla IMHO), even the name for this is not yet
fixed.
The registration tarif is for covering costs of organizing
the event, as well as to cover the usual business mentality
"if it doesn't cost anything, it's not worth anything",
also it somewhat ensures that people registering will also
be present.
The event indicated would indeed be the first one. It does
seem to be in the vein of the older AIDILL meetings.
Greetings, Eric
