The LGL itself now has PCs which ''may'' be suitable. These are Siemens computers with Intel 82865G graphics chip (download drivers [http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/filter_results.asp?strOSs=39&strTypes=DRV%2CARC&ProductID=1044&OSFullName=Linux*&submit=Go%21 here]).
The cases are quite small, only small-factor Nvidia cards fit (many cards can be made "small-factor" by unscrewing the slotblech).

The cases are quite small, only small-factor Nvidia cards fit (many cards can be made "small-factor" by unscrewing the slotblech).

[[LiLux]], le "Linux Users Group" (LUG) Luxembourg, est une association sans but lucratif luxembourgeoise, créée en 1998, ayant comme but

* d'organiser et de participer à des manifestations informatiques pour présenter le système GNU/Linux et les logiciels libres,
* de mettre en relation les differents acteurs du logiciel libre au Luxembourg.

[[LiLux]] est une association libre, apolitique et areligieuse ouverte à tous. Chaque membre participe à son rythme,
aide ou se fait aider pour installer et utiliser des logiciels libres.

[[LiLux]] aide aussi au développement de solutions logicielles sur la base du système d'exploitation GNU/Linux. De plus, l'association offre un support technique à toute personne ou associaton utilisant ou désirant utiliser GNU/Linux. Par le biais de ses membres, [[LiLux]] propose des formations, des exposés et des présentations sur des divers sujets liés aux logiciels libres.

Chaque année, [[LiLux]] participe ou co-organise plusieurs manifestations, telles que les [[LinuxDays]], dont le but est de promouvoir les logiciels libres, les "Journées du Libre", qui proposent des conférences techniques et sociales sur les logiciels libres.

[[LiLux]] organise aussi chaque année son "Linux Fest", où les membres du club offrent aide et assistance aux débutants et aux nouveaux utilisateurs de GNU/Linux. À cette occasion, le club propose aussi des démonstrations de logiciels libres et une LAN-party.

Cette année, le "Linux Fest" se tiendra le 19 et 20 Juin 2004 au Lycée des Graçons à Luxembourg-Limpertsberg.

L'association à mis en place des moyens de communications simples et rapides permettant non seulement aux membres, mais à toute personne intéressé, de poser des questions ou problèmes. Ces outils sont :

====Qu'est-ce GNU/Linux ?====

Il s'agit d'un système d'exploitation puissant et complet et généralement livré avec tous les logiciels dont on peut avoir besoin. La philosophie derrière le système GNU/Linux est celle du logiciel libre qui donne aux utilisateurs, et non aux éditeurs de logiciels, les gestes pour maîtriser leur système. ''Le client est roi'', l'expression n'est pas vaine. I ([[User:AlainKnaff|Alain K]]) did some prelimary research on Mac Autostart. Seems to be that autostart is possible until Mac OS9 but not with MacOSX.

The program to use such CD is mkhybrid:

The program makes an image which is both an ISO filesystem and a MacOS HFS filesystem. Using the <code>-auto</code> flag, you can designate one file (HTML document?) as an autostart file. The feature is managed by Quicktime (i.e. make sure your Mac has quicktime when trying this out).

The downside of mkhybrid is that, unlike mkisofs, it is not able to handle hard links in a proper space-saving fashion (only store hard-linked files once).

Unfortunately, it seems that [http://www.macromedia.com/support/director/ts/documents/autostart''cd''qt20.htm the feature is no longer supported under MacOSX]

I (Patrick P) agree, under OS X there is only a way to make a disk image mount automatically and open a Finder window: [http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20021118064425784&query=autostart+cd Mac OSX hints]. Those Finder windows contain the icons to the files, generally with a special design, but not more. With Applescript some more is possible, but: Mac Disk Images would need the Mac filesystem (HFS+) which is not readable by Windows without 3rd party utility.
I don't think it is important to have Mac OS X Autostart anyway (Mac OS 9 does not matter anymore)

I suggest we use a Windows or Mac/Windows-hybrid filesystem and just have a Windows Autostart.

AK: A hybrid filesystem is no longer needed with Mac OSX (a week ago, we successfully mounted a plain ISO 9660 CD in a Mac OSX). As our software is OSX only anyways, I'd suggest we don't bother.
However, I'd like to know more about these special icons:

* how to make them (special .ico files?)?

- on a server
- to use Redhat Enterprise Linux if commercial support is important to you and you have much money to spent
- to use White Box Enterprise Linux if you want to have Redhat Enterprise Linux but can't afford it (recompiled RHEL, community supported)
- to use Debian if you want a stable, community supported distro with support for many platforms
- to use Slackware if you want a clean, minimalist and secure system that is also uptodate

With this in mind, you can choose your ''first'' distribution and take some time to get used to it. Once you see how it works, you will be able to compare it to other solutions, and make a more educated choice.

I ([[User:PatrickPeiffer|PatP]]) strongly suggest to not include it on the CD because

*Short version: It's just not ready for the audience of the CD (average user)

*Long version: Including it means a lot of work for a modest, if not counterproductive, result. Unlike Win and Linux versions, Oo for OS X is not a finished product and offers a much worse experience than any other choice a user has on OS X. The average Mac user will be turned off by this version. We should wait for a native OSX release. Personal experience: Neither simple nor easy to install. Once installed, it must be launched via a script (not intuitive) and then takes ages to start. Oo is not well integrated into OS X (Fonts are a parallel universe, a real step back; there is no Copy & Paste between OS X apps and Oo, etc etc) and above all it crashes just too often for productive use.

[[User:ThierryCoutelier|TC]] As it seems realy bad I would vote for not including OpenOffice for MAC too. But we still include Mozilla and other OSS.

Monsieur le Ministre,

Comme la plupart des informaticiens en Europe et dans le monde, nous sommes
extrêmement préoccupés par le projet de directive européenne sur la
brevetabilité des inventions mises en oeuvre par ordinateur (2002/0047 COM
(COD)) - expression sous laquelle se camoufle en réalité l'intention
d'autoriser, sans restriction sérieuse, la brevetabilité des logiciels, des
algorithmes et même de certaines méthodes commerciales.

Le texte du projet, tel qu'il a été proposé par la présidence irlandaise au
Conseil de l'Union européenne lors de la session du 18 mai 2004 sur la
compétitivité, permettrait en effet une brevetabilité quasi illimitée des
logiciels en tant que tels, mettant ainsi en danger la plupart des sociétés
européennes travaillant dans ce domaine, notamment en les exposant aux
risques d'une dérive juridique à l'américaine, qui permet aux très grandes
sociétés (américaines pour la plupart, bien entendu) d'attaquer n'importe
quel concurrent gênant, sachant que celui-ci ne pourra même pas engager les
frais exorbitants d'une procédure, quelle que soit la valeur réelle de la
plainte ; et les exemples de brevets absurdes sont hélas déjà légion aux
États-Unis.

Plusieurs rapports et études montrent clairement le danger ; notamment une
étude commanditée par le gouvernement polonais. La déclaration officielle à ce
sujet se trouve sur le site Internet du gouvernement polonais (1).

Un rapport de la présidence néerlandaise, intitulé "Rethinking the European
ICT Agenda: Ten ICT-breakthroughs for reaching Lisbon goals", comporte une
analyse effectuée par la société de consultance Price, Waterhouse & Coopers,
qui y relève clairement les dangers posés par les brevets logiciels. Vous
pouvez le consulter sous l'item 342, page 50 du rapport, téléchargeable sur
le site Internet du Ministère néerlandais de l'Economie (2).

Dans un autre rapport, daté du 22 juillet, la Deutsche Bank, via son magazine
Deutsche Bank Research, montre les mêmes inquiétudes. (voir l'introduction
ainsi que les pages 6 et 7, le paragraphe "Let Ideas Flow / Opportunity 3")
(3).

Le 21 octobre dernier, l'ensemble des quatre groupes parlementaires au
Bundestag s'élevaient contre les brevets logiciels et contre la proposition
législative en question et introduisaient différentes motions à cet effet.
(Référence : Deutscher Bundestag "hib-Meldung" <Patentierung von
Computerprogrammen "effektiv begrenzen">) (4).

Le 2 février dernier, la commission Juri du Parlement européen a voté pour un
renvoi du texte à la Commission européenne. Le Bundestag se prononcera sur ce
texte le 17 février 2005. Ainsi pouvez-vous constater à quel point il est
inapproprié de vouloir soumettre à nouveau ce texte au Conseil avant que la
Commission européenne n'ait pu prendre position sur la procédure de
redémarrage.

Comme le Commissaire au Marché Intérieur, Charlie [[McCreevy]], l'a stipulé devant
la commission aux affaires juridiques du Parlment européen (JURI), le 2 février dernier,
«un dialogue constructif entre le Conseil et le Parlement était vital pour trouver
un accord ». Nous demandons expressément à la Présidence luxembourgeoise de respecter
cette volonté de dialogue et donc de '''ne pas''' mettre ce texte à l'ordre du jour du
Conseil ECOFIN du 17 février en tant que « point A ».

Nous vous prions, monsieur le Ministre, de bien vouloir considérer que les
signataires de cette lettre, sont des professionnels du domaine des NTIC connaissant
bien le sujet de la brevetabilité logicielle, ainsi que les aspects de l'innovation
et de la comptétitivité y relatifs. C'est pourquoi nous serions très heureux de pouvoir
vous rencontrer afin de discuter plus clairement sur ce sujet capital pour l'avenir de
la société de l'information européenne.

Le Conseil des ministres européens perd sa majorité!

Le gouvernement de Pologne s'affirme contre les brevets logiciels.

Luxembourg, le 25 novembre 2004

Dans un communiqué officiel daté du 16 novembre, le gouvernement polonais a pris fermement position contre la proposition de Directive européenne sur les soi-disant inventions implémentées par ordinateurs. La déclaration officielle mentionne que «la Pologne ne peut pas soutenir le texte approuvé par le Conseil de l'Union Européenne le 18 mai 2004» sur la proposition de Directive concernant la brevetabilité des inventions mises en oeuvre par ordinateur.

En conséquence, le Conseil de l'UE ne peut pas présenter la proposition législative comme étant une position commune. Une nouvelle pondération des votes est entrée en vigueur le 1er novembre 2004 et sans le soutien de la Pologne, il manque 16 voix aux pays soutenant ce texte scandaleux.

Rappelons que le Parlement européen s'est prononcé sur ce même texte en septembre 2003 et avait voté de nombreux amendements -- amendements qui interdisaient explicitement et sans ambiguïté la brevetabilité des logiciels et des méthodes commerciales -- faisant ainsi la preuve du fonctionnement démocratique de l'Union européenne. La Commission européenne, en la personne du commissaire Frits Bolkestein, déçue du résultat, avait décidé de passer outre la volonté démocratiquement exprimée et de présenter au Conseil de l'UE le texte original, rejettant les amendements votés par le Parlement. Le Conseil del'UE, dans son vote du 18 mai avait pris position sur un texte à peine modifié, ce qui constituait visiblement une régression.

Au sujet de ce projet de Directive européenne, les personnes responsables qui soutiennent le projet, tant M.Bolkestein que Mme MCarthy nous répetent à plaisir qu'il ne s'agit pas d'autoriser la brevetabilité des logiciels, à d.ieu ne plaise c'est interdit par la convention européenne des brevet (Convention de Munich en 1972) mais bien de permettre la brevetabilité d'inventions mises en oeuvre par ordinateurs. CE MENSONGE EST MAINTENANT DEMONTRE!

Le gouvernement polonais a consulté des associations de professionels de l'informatiques, mais aussi l'Office polonais des brevets et a conclu que la proposition actuelle ne remplit pas les objectifs annoncés de limiter les brevets sur les logiciels et les méthodes commerciales. Le gouvernement polonais a déclaré être prêt à soutenir «une régulation claire et sans ambiguïté» mais pas une directive qui permettrait de breveter les fonctionalités des programmes d'ordinateurs. Lors d'une réunion au minstère polonais le 5 de ce mois, tout le monde, y compris les représentants de l'Office polonais des brevets, les représentants de SUN, Novell, Hewlett-Packard et de Microsoft, ainsi que divers avocats des brevets ont confirmé que la proposition de directive en l'état actuel rend tous les logiciels potentiellement brevetables.

Le représentant permanent des Pays-Bas à l'Union européenne avait récemment déclaré que le Conseil, qui est actuellement sous la présidence néerlandaise, aurait pour objectif de renvoyer au Parlement européen sa proposition "commune" sur ce projet à la mi-décembre. Le Conseil de l'UE doit à présent renégocier la proposition législative.

Le compromis atteint par le Conseil de l'Union européenne en mai a été critiqué dés sa publication. De nombreux hommes politiques de tous bords, rejoints par les représentants des PMEs, des développeurs de logiciels et des économistes ont supplié le Conseil de l'Union européenne de reconsidérer sa position. [[PriceWaterHouseCoopers]] de même que le Deutsch Bank Research ont lancé un avertissement très clair sur les conséquences négatives de ce projet pour les entreprises européennes du domaine de l'informatique, pour l'innovation et pour les chances d'atteindre les objectifs de Lisbonne. Le 1er juillet, le parlement néerlandais votait une résolution chargeant le gouvernement des Pays-Bas de changer sa position au sujet de ce projet du soutien vers l'abstention. Le 21 octobre les quatres groupes parlementaires au Bundestag s'élevaient contre les brevets logiciels et contre la proposition législative en question et introduisaient différentes motions à cet effet.

Lors des négociations en mai, plusieurs pays, dont le Luxembourg, avaient demandé des modifications rejoignant les ammendements votés par le Parlement européen, mais ces modifications avaient été rejetées par la présidence irlandaise de l'époque. Nous avons à présent une nouvelle chance de rétablir le respect de la démocratie en Europe et des décisions prises démocratiquement par le Parlement européen.

Nous demandons instamment au Gouvernement luxembourgeois de modifier son vote au sujet de cette proposition ''comme il en a le droit et les moyens'' et de lutter de toutes ses forces pour faire respecter les choix démocratiques du Parlement européen.

We write to inform you of our concerns regarding the way the Dutch EU
Presidency is conducting itself with respect to European procedures and the
Protocol on the Role of National Parliaments in the European Union. The road
taken by the Dutch government negates the Protocol on the Role of National
Parliaments and weakens European democracy.

On May10th Minister Brinkhorst misinformed the Dutch Parliament about the
Directive on Computer-Implemented Inventions, and voted for the Council's
proposal on May 18th based on that misrepresentation. As a result, the Dutch
Parliament has adopted a motion by MP Van Dam calling the government to
withdraw its vote.

The Dutch Parliament required two sessions of the Committee on Economic
Affairs to come to realize the issues with the Council's text, and how
detrimental it would be for SMEs and innovation. The Directive's text is
overcomplicated, with double negations, duplicitous qualifications
("exceptions" that are always true) and undefined exclusions. The Parliament
fears "excesses" with regards to the patentability of software. Empirical
evidence shows patents on software impede innovation.

The Dutch Parliament concluded that since there was ongoing discussion of the
Directive, the government should abstain from the Council's vote for
political agreement.

Minister Brinkhorst stated in a debate on the matter that for constitutional
reasons the Council's vote cannot be reversed. The State Secretary also
misrepresented the facts in the debate on the Van Dam motion, by calling the
political agreement a "common position," thereby presenting the non-binding
agreement as a binding one. Furthermore, a Brussels Permanent Representative
said the vote cannot be changed [[1]]. In these actions, the Dutch
government has spread critical incorrect information about European Union
democratic procedures three times [[2]].

The Protocol on the Role of National Parliaments in the European Union assures
Parliaments early access to legislative proposals. The Parliaments of the 10
new members of the Union have not had early access, since the translations of
the EU Council's political agreement have only very recently become
available.

Since the translations became available during the Parliaments' recess
periods, it would be appropriate to add a short extension to the six weeks
period provided under the Protocol, within which national Parliaments may
render their conclusions regarding the Council's political agreement. No
shortening of the six weeks period can be allowed.

Without the six weeks review period, the Parliaments of the new members are
denied the rights the Protocol provides for. There is no ground to deny the
new members these rights, since, so far as we know, there is no jurisprudence
on the Protocol, and no mention of this situation in the Treaty of Accession.
The new members of the European Union must enjoy their full rights to address
the Directive.

Eastern Europe would bear the hardest burden in the outcome of this decision.
SMEs in Europe can little afford to compete in a context that would include
the kinds of patents this Directive will validate. The new Eastern European
members of the Union are hardly in a better position than the rest of Europe.
Eastern Europe will never own its software industry under the Council's text.

Europe needs a sensible patent system. The Council's misleading text is no
contribution to that. Critical amendments contributed by the European
Parliament, including a key definition clarifying the term 'technical,' were
discarded by the Council for the dissembling language that they favor [[3]].

The Council worked entirely on the basis of text developed in the JURI
committee [[4]]. They simply discarded clear language such as 'programs are not
inventions' of the European Patent Convention and clarifications like 'data
processing is not a field of technology' and 'publication and distribution of
software is never a patent infringement' of the Parliament.

We believe the Directive must be discussed as a B-item in the Council, not
allowed to pass as a mere formality under the A-item agenda points. The
Netherlands has adopted a motion showing a lack of faith in the vote. There
has been discussion all over Europe regarding the misleading nature of the
Directive and the problematic conduct of the vote. A large group of Ministers
joined in supporting Germany in including a critical text that was dropped at
the very moment of the vote, putting those Ministers, including a substitute
Danish Minister, in a difficult position. The Directive should not be handled
by non-involved ministers [[5]].

Every Parliament in the European Union has the right to debate the Directive
on Computer-Implemented Inventions, and to render their opinions. Any Council
member may unilaterally act to transfer an A-item decision indicating a mere
formality to the list of B-item agenda points [[5]]. Every member of the
Council has the right to change their present vote [[2]]. Any Council member
may unilaterally block any proposed shortening of the six weeks review
period. All of the national members of the European Union have the freedom
and the right to engage in any decision that determines their future.

The proceedings surrounding the Directive on Computer-Implemented Inventions
are a particularly transparent instance representing democratic deficits in
the European Union. The misrepresentations of the procedure and of the status
of the Council's political agreement, and the failure to apply the Protocol
on the Role of National Parliaments to the new members of the Union in the
deliberations, are not only signals of a failure to conduct the deliberations
on the Directive in an open and accountable manner. They also represent a
necessary and worthy occasion to set the right precedent for democratic
process.

Please require the Council and the Dutch Presidency to make clear that
democracy is here to stay in Europe.

Monsieur,

Dans un article de votre journal du mercredi 19 mai 2004, un de vos
journaliste a prétendu que l'association [[LiLux]] soutenait la proposition de
directive sur les "brevets sur les inventions implémentées par
ordinateur", néologisme prétendant cacher les brevets sur les logiciels. Cet
article traitait du vote du Conseil des ministres européens, le mardi 18
mai, au sujet du compromis avancé par la présidence irlandaise de
l'Union européenne sur ce projet de directive.

Le Parlement européen, dans sa session du 23 septembre 2003, a délibéré
et voté sur ce projet de directive. De nombreux amendements ont été
votés à cette occasion dont les amendements 6a... qui limitent le spectre
de brevetabilité, réduisent les risques d'abus et protègent les PME
européennes contre les risques réels de monopolisation du marché par les
géants de l'informatique mondiale. Le soi-disant compromis de la
Présidence irlandaise rejette en masse la majorité de ces amendements et est
en fait un retour en arrière de 2 ans.

L'association [[LiLux]] s'est battue et continue de se battre contre le
"tout brevetable", contre l'adoption inconditionelle et illimitée des
brevets logiciels, pour l'amélioration de ce projet et pour le respect des
décisions adoptées DANS LE RESPECT DE LA DEMOCRATIE par le Parlement
européen. Nous ne sommes absolument pas d'accord avec le soi-disant
"compromis" de la Présidence irlandaise.

Nous avons écrit au gouvernement et publié des communiqués de presse,
nous avons manifesté vendredi 14 mai devant le ministère de l'économie
pour montrer notre détermination et pour demander et inciter le
gouvernement luxembourgeois, en la personne du ministre Grethen, à adopter une
position ferme et démocratique sur ce sujet.

Malgré ses promesses orales, le gouvernement luxembourgeois, en la
personne du représentant du ministère de l'économie, a voté en faveur de ce
soi-disant compromis. Ceci est au mieux désolant, au pire
inacceptable. [[LiLux]] est extrêmement déçu de par l'attitude et la position du
gouvernement et du ministère de l'économie sur ce sujet.

Monsieur le Directeur,

Beaucoup de nos adhérents sont clients de la Banque Générale du Luxembourg, et beaucoup le sont de longue date. Jusqu'à récemment, nous étions modérément satisfait de votre produit "webbanking".

Depuis peu, le service "webbanking" est désormais seulement accessible à l'aide du ''browser'' "Microsoft Internet Explorer" excluant les produits d'autres constructeurs, comme par exemple Konqueror ou Mozilla. De ce fait, la valeur de votre "webbanking" en est fortement dégradé.

Cette restriction délibérée (rien qu'en changeant l'identificateur du browser, on peut passer au-delà de ce premier obstacle), nous surprend d'autant plus, que le produit "Microsoft Internet Explorer" est connu pour ses multiples vulnérabilités et autres trous de sécurité. De plus, le constructeur de ce browser vient d'être condamné à une amende record de 497 millions d'Euros justement pour ses pratiques illégales d'abus de position dominante.

Lors d'un entretien téléphonique avec Monsieur Stéphane RIES à ce sujet, la seule réponse concrète était que : "C'est une option que la BGL a choisie, il n'y a rien à y changer!".

Il nous semble paradoxal qu'une banque qui se veut être "Partenaire d'un monde ''plus'' ouvert" se ferme ainsi à une partie importante de sa clientèle, comprenant non seulement
les utilisateurs de systèmes Linux, mais aussi les utilisateurs Macintosh. Autrefois, la BGL faisait de la publicité en proclamant "Banque Générale -- mier sin do fier iech all!". Qu'en est-t'il de ce service équitable à tous aujourd'hui?

Nous nous interrogeons donc pourquoi une partie de votre clientèle est exclue de votre service "webbanking" ? Alors que, par rapport aux choix technologiques de votre solution, il n'y a aucune raison technique à cette discrimination. Exclueriez-vous aussi d'accès à votre banque les gens qui arrivent en Jaguar plutôt qu'en Ford?

En tenant compte de ces considérations, nous espérons que l'"option choisie" pour votre service "webbanking", puisse (assez rapidement) être revue, améliorant ainsi le service en le rendant ouvert et interopérable selon des standards internationaux et reconnus.

====What is it?====

[[CaCert]] (http://www.cacert.org/index.php?id=12, http://www.cacert.org, http://wiki.cacert.org) is a CAcert.org is a community driven, Certificate Authority that issues certificates to the public at large for free. These include SSL certificates (which are recognized by more and more browsers), as well as PGP/GPG keys.

Participation is very easy. No need to prepare any encryption keys in advance, or to be knowledgeable about SSL, GPG, or similar technologies. The whole assurance procedure is performed using pen and paper, and using the cacert website.

The system works using a "web of trust model", where existing members "assure" new and existing members, which means that they vouch for their identity. New members accumulate points. Beyond 50 points, a new member is '''assured''', which means that the CA trusts their identity. Beyond 100 points, a member is an '''assurer''', meaning that he can assure other members.

If a member has less than 100 points, he can only gain points by being assured: Up to 10 points if the assurer has less than 150 points, and up to 35 points if he has more than 150 points.

If a member has more than 100 points, he can only gain points by assuring other members, that way he gains 2 points per member that he assures.

The goal of our [[LiLux]] [[CaCert]] project is to enable [[LiLux]] to act as a [[CaCert]] assurer. This works if we have at least 5 assurers at 10 or 2 at 35. If we get at least 10 assurers (at 10 points) or 3 assurers (at 35 points), we cannot only assure people but also make them into assurers!

====What's in it for us, [[LiLux]]====
At [[LinuxDays]] 2007, a number of members got certified as [[CaCert]] assurers. Theoretically, we are now enough members together to assure people (50 points).

If people are interested in being assured, we can invite them to our meetings, where they can get assured... as long as enough of our assured members are already present! Or conversely, assure all of the "regularly" present members that are not yet assured...

If the presence of enough assurers is not achievable for every meeting, we should at least strive to have an "assurer's meeting" once in a while (for example, once every 2 or 3 months).

====Technical====
Although the goal of this is to supply GPG keys, SSL certificates and other certificates to the assured members, it is ''not needed'' to have the keys to be signed prepared in advance of the assurance procedure. Technical details, such as keys, can be handled at a later stage.

All you need to have ready beforehand is:
* Two photo identity pieces (such as national ID card and driving license)
* An account on cacert.org (can be created in 5 minutes using a Web Browser and an e-mail address. Can be done just before assurance procedure if you trust the public terminals we have at your disposal, or if you bring your own Laptop)

The actual procedure is as follows:
* The assuree fills in a [[CaCert]] form (which we can supply).
* The assurer checks the ids (not only to make sure that the assuree is who he claims he is, but also to check exact spelling of name (this is important!), birthdate, and signature), certifies that the form is filled in correctly, and keeps it. He then logs in to the cacert site, and assures the user (this can happen at a later stage, if no computers are available at this stage).
* The assurer safekeeps the form for at least 7 years (during which random checks may be asked for by [[CaCert]])

Once the assuree has gained enough points, he can log in to the site, supply his various public keys (SSL, GPG, ...) and have them signed by [[CaCert]].

The important point here is '''you do not yet need to have prepared any encryption keys in advance''' to participate! So it is very easy to participate

WikiSysop: User names

This project aims to create the luxemburgish translation of the wikipedia encyclopedia, well at least the most important things I hope ;)

How to do this? Well on the wikipedia site they say :
