Hello,

Since tuesday I have my new shiny dsl from alternet which worked very
well...

Worked, because only on tuesday I could effectively use it.
I made a firmware upgrade of the router/modem-combo that night (Zyxel
R650-33 ISDN) and everything continued to work.

Yesterday then I had no success anymore, neither today (on ISDN
dialup again now :-( )

The modem seems to happily connect (DSL and PPPOE activity LED are
on/blink)

Does anybody have also trouble with alternet recently, or am I the
only one? Or could it be the new firmware?

traceroute does like this:

traceroute to 80.90.45.45, 30 hops max, 38 byte packets
 1 router (192.168.101.254) etc ...
 2 * * *
 3 * * *
 4 * * *
etc...

The router/modem says in it's status page that it's connected at 1024
kbit/s

Hmmm, can anybody give me a hint (If you prefer also by icq
143117150)

(part of the modem log:)
49 Fri Dec 24 16:22:26 2004 PP0a  WARN  MPOA Link Up
50 Fri Dec 24 16:23:14 2004 PP11  INFO  SMT Password pass
51 Fri Dec 24 16:23:14 2004 PP00  INFO  SMT Session Begin
52 Fri Dec 24 16:23:16 2004 PP0f  INFO  No DNS server available

This problem seems to be fixed automagically (probably by alternet)

Now I get an ip address and a connect (using CHAP and not PAP as the
default value seems to have changed after intensive modem resetting...)

Now only it seems that I get no names resolved using the P&T name
servers :-((
Also, using their router as dhcp server for my network passes the routes
IP address as nameserver which does not work neither.

Which DNS servers are people using over alternet?

Regards,
Yves Glodt
