Replace the mouse by another model if the click is too soft. The wheel
mouse has the same function as the third mouse button and is used for
much more things under the X Window System than just opening new tabs
(for example pasting). Even very old Netscape browsers used the third
button to open new Navigator Windows. By editing the xorg.conf file you
can deactivate the third mouse button (a bad idea). But it is even
possible to emulate the third mouse button by pressing the left and the
right button at the same time.
