I don't remember details, at it was a while back (IIRC on the
Sun U30), but it *was* serious trouble - and got me to do a
full reinstall (as opposed to fixing things, which is my
normal way of doing this kind of stuff). Thinking back, it
could have been some sort of circular impossibility with
kernel/gcc/make/whatever versions.
