I have just installed Slack 10. I tried to reproduce your problem but
was unsuccessful. I can search under linuxpackages.net and Mozilla is happy.
Perhaps you can start Mozilla from the command line and look at the
messages when it dies. What plugins do you have installed? Just type
about:plugins in the address bar. Another thing to try is the following:
Close your Mozilla
mv .mozilla .mozilla.bck
Start Mozilla
Look if the problem is still there

I have abolutely no problem. Under Slack 9.1 I used the version 1.7
without Pango support from www.mozilla.org. Under Slack 10 I used
Slackware's version.
Perhaps it lies on the KDE environment. Try without KDE. Run xwmconfig
under Slackware and select another environment.
